JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the supervision of the reviewing, generation, and recording of financial data of the hospital; consolidation of reports for financial audit and for submission to BIR, SEC, and other government agencies; oversees the Accounting, Billing, and Cashier personnel performance and day to day operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs job functions consistent with the Cure Philippines vision and mission statements and shared goals and values; ensures that subordinate employees perform their functions in like manner.
- Plans, organizes, and establish controls for the operation and activities of the Accounting, Billing, and Cashier in accordance with the Finance Manual of Operation and SafeCare accreditation; prepares and secures approval of the budget from the Finance Director in support of such operations and activities.
- Participates in the reviews and updating of financial policies, systems, and procedures for the improvement of internal control, management of revenue generation, and control of costs/expenses towards effective hospital financial performance; drafts new accounting programs, policies, and procedures as improvement process subject to the approval of the Finance Director.
- Supervises the Accounting personnel in recording and maintaining accounting records; ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of recording/posting of daily cash receipts and check disbursements into journals and subsidiary ledgers with the use of operating systems called Xledger.
- Follows and updates charts of accounts and account codes as provided by Cure International; reviews accounting entries against a chart of accounts to ensure proper classification and correct entries are followed at all times.
- Supervises the Billing and Cashier personnel in recording and maintaining patient records, updating/finalization of patient billings, and preparation of statements of accounts using the operating system called BizBox.
- Monitors accounts receivables relative to the up-to-date submission of guarantee letters billing transmittal and other necessary documents and collection frequency and efficiency; coordinate action to take on bad debts and aged receivables.
- Evaluates and certifies to the correctness and justifiability of expenses incurred as reflected in check vouchers and requisitions of office supplies, cash advances and liquidation reports, and other related financial transactions subject to limits imposed by the Finance Director.
- Reviews all adjusting entries including but not limited to the following: bank reconciliation, correction of entries, and other discrepancies between subsidiary journals and the general ledgers.
- Prepares consolidated monthly reviews and analyses of various financial accounts and submits to the Finance Director for the finalization of financial statements to serve as the basis of the hospital management for sound and strategic decisions.
- Interprets operative accounting policies and procedures to other officers and employees and provides advising services on financial matters as may be requested.
- Coordinates the preparation of working papers and other related requirements for interim and year-end external and internal audits.
- Monitors and prepares the computations, documents, and reports as requirements to meet periodic deadlines of government regulatory bodies such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and renewal of business permits.
- Coordinates with Finance Director on matters related to taxation and insurance coverage.
- Monitors and consolidates inventory reports established out of actual physical inspection/count and establishes valuation of properties, equipment, and establishes depreciated value in relation to asset management activities of the hospital.
- Prepares monthly planner on activities to be undertaken by the Accounting, billing, and cashier; consolidates outputs, results, and accomplishments into monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports and submits the same with corresponding analysis and recommendations to the Finance Director.
- Supervises and controls planned and intervening activities of subordinate employees concerning the performance of their job functions and completion of task assignments in accordance with prescribed standards, in the process providing motivational approaches, disciplining, coaching, and counseling or, as needed.
- Participates in collegial planning for policies, procedures, and systems, problem-solving, decision-making, and performance monitoring through participation in standing and ad hoc committees and project teams.
- Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous, germane, or related and /or implied from the above-enumerated duties and responsibilities but within the limits and premise of his/her capacity, influence, job duties, responsibilities, and accountability. Thus, it does not detrimental to her/his health, job, position and security.
JOB QUALIFICATION
- BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ACCOUNTANCY OR ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT
- MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) YEARS EXPERIENCE IN ACCOUNTING FIELD
- THREE (3) TO FIVE (5) YEARS' SUPERVISORY ROLE IN THE APPROPRIATE FIELD
- A CPA IS AN ADVANTAGE
