THE ROLE
As the Data Specialist, you are responsible for gathering information to assist the real estate tax
consultants and business personal property tax consultants in working on their accounts. You are
also responsible for accurately documenting any necessary information and communicating issues
to the tax consultants and/or their manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
> Do phone calls, email, fax, or complete internet research to obtain current values from the
taxing jurisdictions and other pertinent data pertaining to the appeal process
> Confirm the mailing address of any assessment notifications and update the address when
appropriate in the database system
> Obtain a copy of the value backup document and electronically link it to the system when
unable to obtain an original assessment notice
> Update values and appeal data in the personnel tracking system (PTS) system
> Communicate any issues or other important information to the consultants via notes in the
system, emails, or personal communication
> Do phone calls, email, fax, or internet research to obtain current tax bill information from
the taxing jurisdiction
> Confirm the mailing address of any property tax bills and update the address with the
taxing jurisdiction when appropriate
> Obtain, scan, and link copies of tax bills when we are unable to obtain the original tax bill
> Prepare approvals for property tax bills
> Review the property tax bill document that has been linked to the system and confirm the
accuracy of various pieces of information on the tax bill and in the PTS system
> Communicate any errors discovered for correction
> Prepare a bill approval page and submit it for review to the appropriate tax bill reviewer
> Review other tax bill-related correspondence to ensure it is linked correctly in the system
Forward anything that requires action to the consultants and their manager
> Do tasks deemed necessary by your supervisor or manager
QUALIFICATIONS
> A Bachelor’s degree in the related field
> Experience in a multi-client environment
> Must be able to encode fast with accuracy
> Must be comfortable in doing phone calls observing proper phone etiquette
> Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft 365 applications
> Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
> Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
> Aptitude in data management, analytics, reporting preparation
> Ability to function in an autonomous environment—independent worker, self-directed
