THE ROLE
The Bookkeeper (Xero Certified) will work closely with the firm principal to establish systems
for maintaining accurate records of financial transactions. This will involve both internal and
client-facing work, plus preparation and proofreading of US foreign bank account reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
> Manage the books for several US limited liability companies owned by the firm principal
> Catch up on previous years that have not been reconciled
> Assist our team with client companies, posting, and account reconciliation
> Help firm principal with invoicing our clients and tracking expenses and accounts
payable
> Post transactions and reconcile accounts for a Dutch limited liability company
> Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting
transactions, and ensuring legal requirements compliance
> Develop a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of
accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
> Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
> Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries
> Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries
> Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries
> Maintain historical records by filing documents
> Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account
information and trends
> Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements,
enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on
needed actions
> Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
> A Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or equivalent
> At least 3 years of experience with accounting and is familiar with Statement of
Financial Accounting Standard (SFAS) rules
> Must have Xero Certification and experience
> Experience maintaining a ledger of client transactions in US Attorney Trust Accounts
> Experience with multiple currencies and currency formats
> Experience with developing standards and analyzing information
> Familiar with Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Monday.com
> Experience in a multi-client environment
> Able to deal with complexity and capable of reporting research results
> Good data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
> Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
> Ability to function in an autonomous environment—independent worker, self-directed
