Our Health AUTHORIZATION SPECIALIST reviews insurance information and determines if any authorization or official confirmation is necessary our client provides Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation to the patients of our client clinic. The role reviews medical or hospital insurance information and performs pre-authorization responsibilities to determine if the insurance company covers PT and sports rehab.
MAJOR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Compile paperwork related to the patient
• Assess patient eligibility for PT and sports rehab
• Communicate with the insurance provider and track the progress of a case
• Complete authorizations and referrals for PT and sports rehab, including appointments and procedures
• Review patient medical history and insurance coverage for approval
• Contact POC for additional information as needed
• Input new patient information and update information on our client system
• Assist in completing billing documentation
• Assist with other clerical tasks as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
• Possesses the appropriate or equivalent licensure and/or educational background and/or training for the job which includes Insurance Management, Medical Documentation, PT, Sports Rehab, Customer Service, Patient Management, Hospital Admin, among others
• 2 years in handling insurance claims and/or management for PT/Sports Rehab, specifically, or for Hospital/Clinical services in general
• Display understanding of the general approach in insurance management
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Impeccable skills in explaining and responding on one’s toes without reliance on a scripted spiel
