JOB DESCRIPTION

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Import Clerks:

  • Facilities arrange and direct the transportation and shipment of products to and from and other destinations. They compile, complete, and verify the forms and documents necessary for the import and/or export of products. Documents are used or prepared in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and schedules. Import/Export Clerks function as the liaison between the food production facility and customs brokers, transportation brokers, carriers, suppliers, and customers. The products being shipped and the products’ destinations significantly affect the job in terms of the necessary paperwork and difficulty of transportation arrangements. Import/Export Clerks are in high demand throughout Canada! Many companies provide full-time employment and competitive salaries with full benefits.
  • • Employers generally require the completion of secondary school.
  • • Previous experience in the field is preferred The Import/Export Clerk plays a central role in the food processing industry and in doing so they are responsible for a variety of tasks. Some key responsibilities include;
  • • Reading internal memos, faxes, and newsletters.
  • • Analyzing and interpreting regulations, policies, and procedures
  • • Recording and processing licenses, invoices, permits, and contracts
  • • Creating shipping schedules and customs documents for shipping overseas
  • • Oral and written communication with transportation personnel and suppliers
  • • Using computerized and processing systems
  • • Keeping inventory and ordering office supplies, as needed

  • • Understand the Standard Operating Procedures and Inspection Regulations
