Under the supervision of the Patient Care Supervisor, the Echocardiogram Technician is responsible for performing 2D Echo, Stress Echo and Dobutamine Stress Echo. Echocardiography technicians are also sometimes referred to as diagnostic cardiac sonographers, cardiac sonographers, or just simply echocardiographers. As an echocardiography tech Echocardiography technicians are also sometimes referred to as diagnostic cardiac sonographers, cardiac sonographers, or just simply echocardiographers. As an echocardiography technician, your main occupational tasks involve creating images of the heart, cardiac chambers, valves, and vessels for the purpose of assessing heart function and diagnosing heart ailments. You will work closely with cardiologists, often performing the technical aspects of the examinations, evaluating the findings, and reporting them to the cardiologists.
You will also be responsible for interviewing the patients and reviewing their medical records so that you may adapt your sonographic techniques as necessity dictates. You provide patient care, such as preparing the patients for the sonographic imaging and providing them with instruction during the echocardiograph so that the images turn out properly. You perform echocardiography on patients while they are lying down or while they are on a treadmill to assess their heart while under physically stressful situations. Clean and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning
Perform other functions / duties which may be assigned by the immediate head / supervisor from time to time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Schedule appointments and explain procedures to patients and care.
2. Perform ECG, Stress Test and 24 Hour Holter Monitoring, to measure and monitor the heart rate, regularity of heart beat and any abnormalities.
3. Perform vascular procedure, to diagnose peripheral vascular disease.
4. Perform echocardiograms or ultrasound imaging of the heart, to evaluate different aspects of the heart such as chamber size, valve function and blood flow.
5. Review patient files and must be familiar with basic cardiac conditions in order to recognize and identify any abnormalities.
6. Work with physicians in doing so or may assist in other diagnostic procedures.
7. Encode and release of results.
